GSquared Medical’s Retentus   retractors offer a more effective and easier-to-use alternative to manually pushing adipose out of the way, silk tape, and Montgomery straps. We are committed to improving access to the surgical site of the abdomen, groin and other areas of the high BMI patient and continue to develop new positioning devices / retractors.  In fact, GSquared Medical is working to improve access to all areas with excess adipose.

Please stay tuned for further developments.

This post-operative wound care device has all the feature of the ABBy (WE-205), but is 30% larger.  We encourage the use of ABBy+ for those patients whose BMIs are greater than 50.

Please contact us for a sample of each and see for yourself how effective the ABBys are in helping the wound stay dry, heal faster and helps prevent SSIs.

On-Line Study Guide
Surgical Site Wound Care: Focus on High BMI Patients

The primary goal of the perioperative team for surgical patients is the prevention of a postoperative surgical site infection (SSI). SSIs in wounds are a major source of clinical complications and economic consequences for both patients and healthcare providers. Wound closure and healing are essential for achieving optimal outcomes for surgical patients. This is especially important and complex in obese patients.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COURSE?
    -  Risk factors for wound contamination and surgical site infections (SSIs).
    -  Basic principles of wound care and recognize their importance.
    -  The relationship between high body mass index (BMI) and wound healing.
    -  Obesity trends in the United States.
    -  Comorbidities that accompany obesity.
    -  Traditional and new interventional concepts for wound healing and SSI prevention.
